What a Great Place Days Inn Savannah, Georgia
I was very impressed with this Days Inn. We stayed for two nights. Check in was smooth and easy, the front desk person was very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean and even smelled like it had just been cleaned. The bed was comfortable and there were lots of pillows. Towels were thick and comfortable. We enjoyed the large TV and there are plenty of channels to choose from.
We also utilized the Microfridge in the room and the microwave. The Continental Breakfast was good and it was nice to get a USA Today, even though I don't normally read that particular newspaper. All in all, this is a very nice hotel with lots of comfort and amenities for a very reasonable price.

Cockspur Lighthouse
Georgia's smallest lighthouse is located on a piece of land that is actually part of Cockspur Island, site of Fort Pulaski. The first lighthouse built here, in the South Channel of the Savannah River north of Tybee Island dates back to 1772. Since the islet on which Cockspur Lighthouse was built is covered with water during high tide, the lighthouse keeper lived on Cockspur Island or another nearby island and traveled by boat to the lighthouse. According to the National Park Service, the lighthouse is open to visitors. At low tide you can walk to the lighthouse, or you can row your own boat, as there is no supervised tour.
